Dear Parents, 

Please encourage your children to use child-friendly scissors at home, of course with close supervision by an adult/s. 

Dear Teachers,
Encourage this at schools, but do not limit the time. As long as they are focusing on cutting or snipping, let them EXPLORE! 

Stages of cutting :

1. Simply snipping away.. (as long as they can hold the scissors and snip snip it)
2. Cutting straight lines (age 4)
3. Cutting shapes (usually age 4 and above)
4. Complex cutting (usually age 5 and above)

Use different materials for them to explore :

1. Thin paper
2. Foam
3. Thick paper / board
4. Cloth
5. Etc...

Tips :

1. Make sure both thumbs are up while cutting
2. Thumbs are up while holding the scissors
3. Thumbs are up while holding the materials.

Phonics : Blending the Letter Sound to WRITE

Ini (gambar) adalah satu contoh penulisan anak saya yang terhasil daripada gabungan bunyi huruf yang di pelajari melalui proses Phonics Bahasa Inggeris. 

Apa yang cuba di sampaikan adalah :

"Once upon a time, I went to school. And then, I share my book with my friends."

Perhatikan beberapa perkara di sini : 

1. Ada kekeliruan antara huruf 'b' dan 'd' 
   --> penulisan ini di hasilkan lebih kurang setahun yang lepas. Apabila di baca semula, penulis tersebut sedar kesilapan2 yang dibuat ini. Bukan sahaja sedar, tetapi mampu untuk menceritakan semula kesilapan tersebut: "Owh, I've made a mistake between 'b' and 'd'," dan penulis hanya tersenyum mentertawakan diri sendiri.
2. Ejaan yang tidak sempurna
   --> juga di sedari oleh penulis --> "owh, I've got this one wronged!"
3. Simpan tulisan2 ini, supaya boleh di refleksikan kembali pada masa akan datang. Ini membantu anak2 untuk melihat proses yang mereka lalui itu. Dan di sini juga, anda boleh menceritakan bahawa, kita semua adalah dalam proses pembelajaran. Tidak ada yang perfect. Hanya ALLAH yang PERFECT. Melakukan kesalahan itu adalah proses untuk kita perbaiki diri
4. Kesan dari menyimpan tulisan2 ini juga membantu anak2 dari segi keyakinan diri mereka
5. Jika di Tadika/Taska - semua ini di simpan di dalam Learning Journey --> sebagai bukti proses pembelajaran anak2 dari tidak tahu apa2, kepada lebih mengetahui sesuatu perkara. Untuk pihak ibubapa, mereka dapat melihat perkembangan anak mereka (ini barulah dikatakan perkembangan yang sebenar), dan juga dapat menyimpan kenangan2 anak mereka di sekolah, sewaktu ketiadaan mereka

KESIMPULANNYA: 

Galakkan anak2 anda untuk FREE WRITING - tanpa apa2 teguran, untuk meningkatkan minat mereka dalam menulis. Di sesetengah negara maju, kanak2 seawal umur 4-5 tahun sudah boleh melahirkan pendapat mereka melalui penulisan seperti puisi (poem). InsyaALLAH, kita juga boleh, cuma perlu tukar persepsi "betul-salah" kita pada mereka. 

Dan sudah pastinya, ia akan lebih hebat, jika di praktikkan di peringkat sekolah rendah, sebagai kesinambungan dari pembelajaran di tadika. Satu transformasi untuk melahirkan generasi yang lebih pandai 'critical thinking'.

Ya, dengan keadaan yang kurang selamat sekarang, memang sukar untuk kita galakkan anak2 bermain di luar. 

Sesuatu yang kita dahulu dapat nikmati, tetapi tidak oleh anak2 kita sekarang ini. 

Saya teringat memanjat pokok belimbing, sambil memakan buah belimbing, memanjat pokok jambu merah, sambil memakan buah jambu, mendakit bukit konon2 hiking... camping role play dengan membuat unggun api di bawah bangsal pada musim tengkujuh... dan macam2 lagi..

Mungkin satu hari nanti, bila kesedaran terhadap pentingnya pendidikan awal kanak2 dapat sokongan dari semua pihak, maka kes2 jenayah seperti penculikan anak dapat di banteras. Jika ada nya undang2 dan polisi yang bagus, maka hak kanak2 dapat di pelihara.

The fact is that, there is an urgency that we highlight this issue in our country.

The fact is that, a dyslexic in the United Kingdom is given extra hours in exams, to provide them extra time to think at their own pace - each dyslexic is assigned with a designated adult by the government to assist in learning.

What we did for our children last weekend :

TREASURE HUNT

Skills to Nurture : 

• Symbol Reading
• Map Reading
• Being Inquisitive 
• Critical Thinking
• Problem Solving
• Team Work

Advantages :

1. Cost Saving - you don't need to buy expensive toys - or even pay expensively for your kids to have fun - especially when you have many children
2. Time - You spend your time with them which makes them appreciates you more! It only needs about 15 minutes of planning and preparation and your children spends about 40-60 minutes to figure it out!
3. The reward can be anything! We uses their DUIT RAYA RM1 - hide them as TREASURES!!! You can use the Gold Chocolate Money, or anything...
4. It makes them busy and off any SCREEN DIGITAL DEVICES like Ipad or Video Games, etc. 
5. Encourages good siblings relationship - because of the team work that they make.

Summary : 

What we found entertaining was how the children laughed out loud as and when they found the money $$$. We find it hilarious because for them, it is such a big thing, where as we adults sometimes neglect such simple thing as this. 

But it definitely was AMAZING!!! Try it out!
